The new ITEM OF THE MONTH of the month of MAY is online. It is a very special cover from my personal collection.

My friend Mauro Gilardi from Italy informed about two new commemorative cancels from ARGENTINA. They get numbers 027 and 028 respectively. That means that we know a total of 12 cancels issued for the last World Championships held in that country.

After having come back from our holiday in Nicaragua, here are some of the latest news of Volleyball Philately:
  • I found a strange cover from Australia, which says LOCAL POST in the place where the indicium or stamp should be. Does anyone know if that is a philatelic item or was it just made for commercial reasons ? Did it have any postal use ? Any information is welcome ! Just click here:

  • I can show you a scan of stamp BHUTAN 001b, although neither I nor my true friend Piet van den Berg could buy it. Our "friend" James Smith from Norman, Oklahoma, bought it seconds before the closing of the auction on eBay, something which is not done between Volleyball philatelists.  Unfortunately it is not the first time that this "philatelist" shows that he is not worth to be called so.
  • There are two new matchbox labels from CHINA, PR. Unfortunately I do not have any information about them. They get numbers 010 and 011, respectively.
  • There's a new postcard from FRANCE. It gets num ber 002.
  • I included the postal stationery card from the SOVIET UNION which I presented on Jan 9, 2003 into the "related stationery" section.
  • I would like to present to you the new and international symbol for self-adhesive stamps (thanks to Piet van den Berg):

2003 04 04: GOOD NEWS
I am really HAPPY to inform you that after many years of searching I finally found a very special cover. It comes from Holyoke, Mass., and it is dated Sep 21, 1895. THE YEAR VOLLEYBALL WAS INVENTED IN THAT PLACE. I will present this cover as next month's ITEM OF THE MONTH. Until then, you can see the cancel as related cancel UNITED STATES number 001.

  • There is a new postcard from FRANCE. It gets number 001.
  • There is a new version of double printing of stamp URUGUAY 001.
  • I added about 15 different postcards from the UNITED STATES.
  • There is a new example of a hybrid postal stationery from the UNITED STATES. It gets number 002i.
  • There is also a new entrance ticket from the UNITED STATES. It gets number 003.

  • There is a new commemorative cancel from URUGUAY. It gets number 006.
  • There are three very interesting sheet versions of stamp URUGUAY 002. Check them out !
2003 04 02
  • After exactly twelve years of searching I could buy an original ticket of the Volleyball event at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, JAPAN. You can see this great find as number 001.
  • There is a new postcard from ESTONIA. It gets number 002.
  • There is also a new Cinderella stamp from THAILAND. It gets number 001a and b.
  • Thanks to Piet van den Berg I can also show a new postcard from HUNGARY. It gets number 002.
2003 04 01:
According to information from my friend Piet van den Berg from Holland, Cinbderella stamp Japan 007 was not issued by Japan, but by CHINA, PR. There it gets number 001A.
