Dear friends !
Due to some problems with my server some pages may not load, and some images may not show. I am working to resolve these problems, and I hope to be back to normal soon.

My good friend Luciano Calenda from Italy sent me a scan of an interesting souvenir sheet from MONGOLIA. It seems that on one of the stamps there is a Volleyball. What do you think - check the image and the enlargement and tell me your opinion, clicking here:

souvenir sheet from MONGOLIA detail with ??? Volleyball ???

This souvenir sheet was issued for the "World Intellectual Property Organization" in 1999. It has Yvert & Tellier # 2437 (the stamp is Yvert & Tellier 2437F)

2002 09 19:
  • I was checking an issue from NORTH KOREA (# 008a - 008d). The MICHEL catalogue says that they are without gum, but I think they DO HAVE gum. Could you check your collections and tell me your results. There are two possibilities: Either the MICHEL catalogue is wrong, or they exist in two versions, one without gum and the other with gum. Please send your eMail clicking here:
  • I could add better scans of stamp NAURU 001, UNITED STATES 004c, Cinderella stamps AUSTRALIA 001a and 001b, UNITED STATES 002b-d and 003 b-c,  and no-VB-stamp COOK ISLAND 001.

2002 09 18:
  • I could add a better scan of Cinderella stamp SOUTHERN OSSETIA 001b.
  • According to information of the people from MICHEL the Mongolian souvenir sheets might be stamps and not Cinderellas. They said they would send more information later.

2002 09 17:
  • Since a couple of months I have a series of twelve souvenir sheets from MONGOLIA in my drawer, waiting to find out if they are stamps or only Cinderellas. As I have no exact information so far, I list them under Cinderellas as they don't seem to be real stamps to me.
  • I could add better scans of stamps MOZAMBIQUE 005a and 005b as well as UZBEKISTAN 001.
  • I found a presentation pack of stamp JERSEY 001 which I am going to list.

2002 09 16:
  • I could add a new postcard from AUSTRALIA. It gets number 006.
  • I started a new section parallel to the phonecard section (which, by the way, is not finished). I list some special cards which are no phone cards, but very similar to them. You can find them under OTHER CARDS.

2002 09 15:
  • Piet van den Berg sent me scans of four postcards which were unknown to me so far. Two from the NETHERLANDS, one from SPAIN and another one from JAPAN.
  • He also made a sensational find: A new postal stationery cover (entire) from ROMANIA. It is THE OLDEST postal stationery item from Romania !!! All catalogue numbers of so-far-known items had to be changed, as this one gets number 001.

2002 09 13:
I think there was a new stamp issue showing Volleyball from El Salvador. A series of four stamps and one souvenir sheet were issued on June 13, 2002, for the Central American and Caribbean Sports Games which will be celebrated this November in El Salvador. Unfortunately I have only images of these stamps of very poor quality, so it is difficult for me to decide wheter there is Volleyball on the violet stamp or not (the third in the series). Can anyone help ?

2002 09 12:
I could finish the listing of all the Volleyball postcards I know of. If you want to see them, go to POSTCARDS. If you have cards which are not listed here, please inform me ! A simple click here   ist enough.

2002 09 11:
Mr. Nikolay Markov is a good friend of mine. He has a large stock of sports items to offer. So if you are interested, please contact him: nicolay2000@mail.ru .

2002 09 11:
On this special day I would like to remember all the victims who died on Sept 11th of last year in the United States. At the same time we all should remember all the victims of US politics in nearly all the world.

2002 09 10:
  • I was able to add a scan of stamp UNITED STATES 003e as well as a better scan of 003c.
  • I could add translations of the new matchbox labels listed on Sept 5th.

2002 09 08:
  • Piet van den Berg from Holland informs about a new Maximum card from GREECE.
  • Thanks to the help of Mauro Gilardi I could add three new postal stationery items from the People's Republic of CHINA (numbers 005 - 007). You will find a special article about issues for the 2001 Universiade Games in Bejing, China, shortly in the PHILAVOLLEY section.
  • There is also a new postal stationery entire from AUSTRALIA. It gets number 004.
  • Mauro also sent two new commemorative cancels from JAPAN. They get the provisial numbers 331 and 332.

2002 09 05:
  • According to information from the MICHEL catalogue the overprinted issue from NAGORNO KARABAKH is NOT an official issue. It was produced privately and has no philatelic value at all. This means that I will keep them in the Cinderella section.
  • Our friend Nikolay Markov from Russia sent me two new matchbox lables from the former SOVIET UNION. They get numbers 010 and 013 respectively.
  • Piet van den Berg from Holland informed about two new cachet cancels from CHINA, PR. They get numbers 010 and 011, respectively. Unfortunately we have no translation so far. Does anyone know who could help with translations from Chinese and specially from Japanese ?

2002 09 04:
Piet van den Berg from Holland informs about three overprinted stamps (???) from NAGORNO KARABAKH, which were overprinted on stamp 005a from the former SOVIET UNION. Untill we get more details I have listed them as Cinderella stamps.
