  • Thanks to the help of Piet van den Berg I could add many new YVERT & TELLIER catalogue numbers to stamps from various countries.

2002 05 20
  • Piet van den Berg sent me two scans of new meter cancels from FRANCE (number 1.3.10.) and SWITZERLAND (number 1.1.2.). You find them under their respective country in "METER CANCELS".

2002 05 17
  • I added some new MICHEL catalogue numbers and additional information to several postal stationery items from BULGARIA, CZECHOSLOVAKIA, CZECH REPUBLIC, FRANCE, ITALY, POLAND, ROMANIA, SLOVAKIA, SLOVENIA, SOVIET UNION and YUGOSLAVIA.
  • It is very difficult to classify MICHEL catalogue numbers for postal stationery items from the SOVIET UNION. I felt unable to do so.

2002 05 16
  • I could add the translations of the Hungarian commemorative cancels. Mr. Sandor Molnar from Hungary helped me. You can see the translations under "COMMEMORATIVE CANCELS".
  • Does anyone of you have contacts to Japanese or Chinese collectors who are willing to help us with material from their countries as well as with translations from their languages into English ? Any contact information will be highly appreciated. Send me your infos clicking here:

  • Thanks to Mr. Richard Stevens from the USA there is some more information on postal stationery item 001 and 005 from BULGARIA. Look for it under "POSTAL STATIONERY". He also sent some general information about postal stationery from Bulgaria, which you will find on the same page.

A very interesting find was reported by Bernard Bergeret from France. He sent me the following scan:
HP China, PR 03.jpg (17645 bytes) China, PR 03 detail 2.jpg (4019 bytes) China, PR 03 detail 3.jpg (5315 bytes)
Cinderella sheetlet or not ? detail 1 detail 2 detail 3

You can see Volleyball on the right sheet margin (see detail 1). The "stamps" shown on this "souvenir sheet" were issued on Sept 28, 1965 (there was also a Volleyball stamp in this set, it is 001a, but it is not part of this "sheetlet"). If you check closely, you will see that the face values of all five "stamps" have a line crossing the face value out - and making it invalid for postage. That means that we have NO souvenir sheet here, but, according to my opinion, a cinderella sheetlet.
Another curious thing is that on the top margin, right hand side, you can clearly read the date 1989.9.6 (detail 2), and under the two red rings on the left hand side you can also see the year "1989" (detail 3)
. If we could translate the Chinese text maybe we could find out more about this strange issue.
Please, send me your comments and additional information clicking here:

  • I have added a new GUESTBOOK which should be working better than the old one. I HOPE THAT ALL OF YOU WILL SIGN IT. Go to "GUESTBOOK" and tell me what you think of this page. Thank you !

  • Today I could add version C of stamp CHINA PR 014. You can see it under "CHINA".
  • There are some more POSTCARDS from Croatia, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Netherlands and USA.

2002 05 06
  • Although not real philately, I have included a new part with illustrated Volleyball postcards. So far I have postcards from the following countries: Angola, Australia, China PR, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Korea North, Macau, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, United States of America and Yugoslavia. You can find all of them under "POSTCARDS".

2002 05 05
  • I have finished the MAXIMUM CARD section listing the following countries: Saint Pierre & Miquelon, San Marino, Soviet Union, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Nations (New York), United States of America and Yugoslavia. You find them all under "MAXIMUM CARDS".

  • Thanks to Mr. Richard Stevens from the USA I could correct two mistakes in the listing of postal stationery from BULGARIA. Item # 005 had wrong information about indicium and cover form, and item # 006 had a wrong year of issue and no MICHEL catalogue number. All has been corrected. You find the changes under "POSTAL STATIONERY".

2002 05 03
  • I have added MAXIMUM CARDS from Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal and Romania. You find them under "Maximum Cards".

  • I wish you all a VERY HAPPY 1st OF MAY !!!
  • What would be your answer when I asked you when Volleyball was first played at the Olympic Games ? You surely would answer that it was in 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. This is not true !!! Volleyball was first played at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, France. It was part of the program of the "Jeux de l'enfance" (= Youth Games) which also included exploration games, scouts and basketball. Who has got more detailed information about this participation of Volleyball, teams competing, dates of matches etc ? Please contact me if you have any information. Just make "click" here:
