Welcome to the world of VOLLEYBALL,

SEKAP TAKRAW and PHILATELY !!!

RECENT NEWS:

2002 03 31
  • I found a new version of stamp KOREA NORTH 007a-d. It was believed that these stamps were issued in form of the souvenir sheet (007b and d) only, but they were also issued in ordinary sheets. The new stamps (perforate and imperforate) get numbers 007a and b, all other stamps move one number up. You may see them under "KOREA NORTH".

  • I have added the MAXIMUM CARDS of the following countries: Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South) and Liechtenstein. You find them under "MAXIMUM CARDS".
  • There is a new STAMP issue from the PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA. It shows Volleyball on a tab attached to a stamp, so it doesn't get an own catalogue number. You can see it under NEW ISSUES "2001".

  • I have finished the colour versions of the ROMANIAN entires (postal stationery). I think there is a new colour version of 003, with red inside printing. It gets number 003d. You can see all the new images under "ROMANIA".

  • I have changed the numbering system of the postal stationery items of JAPAN. There are also two new postal stationery cards from this country (Mauro reported). They get numbers 025 and 026 and you can find them under NEW ISSUES "1990 - 1999".
  • There are twelve new commemorative cancels from JAPAN. I have listed them, but so far they have no new numbers, as there will be more additions during the next days. You can all see them under JAPAN "1990 - 1993".

QUESTION
I am planning to change the numbering system of the postal stationery cards from Japan. I think it will be easier to have one single number instead of separating the cards into TYPE 1 and TYPE 2. I will give them numbers according to their issue date (as far as we know them). WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT ?

  • Postal stationery JAPAN T1 007 and 008 had to change numbers. T1 007 becomes T1 008 and T1 008 becomes T1 007.
  • There is a new PP postal stationery card from BELGIUM, which was found by Mauro Gilardi. It gets number 001, wheras all other numbers move one up. IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO FIND OUT IF THERE EXIST OTHER LANGUAGE VERSIONS AND ALSO OTHER CARDS FOR OTHER CANCELS. WHO COULD CHECK THAT WITH THE BELGIAN POST ? You can see the new card under NEW ISSUES "1990 - 1999".
  • Mauro Gilardi informed about a new meter cancel from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA which was reported to him by James Smith. You can find it under NEW ISSUES "BEFORE 1990".

Stamp KENYA 002 was issued on July 24, 1992, according to all mayor catalogues. Nevertheless, I have got two different FDCs as well as the information sheetlet from the Kenyan Postal Authorities where the date is Aug 14, 1992. That is why I shall list it with this date. • A Belgian collector who prefers to stay anonymous sent information to Piet about a new postal stationery card from the SOVIET UNION. I checkhed the MICHEL - catalogue and its catalogue number seems to be 450 (I am not sure). It gets number 017, and you can see it under NEW ISSUES "BEFORE 1990".

I have information on a future issue of ARGENTINA. In September 2002 the Argentinian Post will issue one or more stamps for the Men's Volleyball World Championships to be held in that country.

2002 03 13
The first day of issue of stamps GUYANA 001 and 002 had to be changed to July 25, 1996. Has someone got an FDC of GUYANAN 002 to proof that date ?

2002 03 12
  • Mauro informs about the existence of an imperforate version of stamp EQUATORIAL GUINEA 001b. He has no picture of it, though. Who can help ?
  • You can also find the correct catalogue numbers of stamps BULGARIA 007 - 010. There were some mistakes in the numberings.

Dear friends !
Mauro Gilardi, Piet van den Berg and Ned de Groot suggest to group "stamps" ITALY 002c and 002d into the "Cinderella" section. If you agree, please send me an eMail clicking here:
Please bear in mind that they were printed on request of the Italian Minister of Posts and Telecommunications. If we group them into the "Cinderella" section then we would have to move the following items as well: MONACO 001f, POLAND 002c, 002d, 003b and 003c. What do you think ???

Regarding my question posted on March 8 (see below) regarding the cancel from the Italian Volleyball Federation I had some response. All of the writers suggested not to list this item, as it had nothing to do with Philately. Thanks for your answers !!!

  • Mauro also sent me the scan of a wonderful item. A proof of stamp PERO 003. You can find it under NEW ISSUES "BEFORE 1990".
  • There is a new proof and printing error of stamp TURKEY 001. They get the numbers 001e (printing error) and 001f (proof). You find them under NEW ISSUES "BEFORE 1990".
  • A beautiful hand painted drawing by the artist of stamp RWANDA 002a was also sent by Mauro. It gets number 002c, and you can see it under NEW ISSUES "BEFORE 1990".

  • Mauro Gilardi sent me a huge lot of additional information about different topics. I shall try to include this information as soon as possible.
  • The first one is about a beautiful perforation variety of stamp JAPAN 001b. You can see it under NEW ISSUES "BEFORE 1990". It gets number 001c.
  • There are some changes for commemorative cancels from JAPAN: Number 222 is eliminated (it shows Basketball), also number 245 is eliminated (it shows Handball), but number 223 exists in two versions (two different tones of red). You can find them under "1994 - 1996".
  • The dates of issue of stamps MALDIVES have changed. You find it under "MALDIVES".
  • The issue date of postal stationery SLOVENIA 001 is 1998 09 20.
  • Mauro informs about an imperforate version of stamp KUWAIT 001. It seems to be a proof, possibly from the printer's waste. Look for it under NEW ISSUES "BEFORE 1990".

  • Bernard Bergeret informs us about a new stamp issue from LUXEMBOURG. You can find it under "NEW ISSUES - 2002" . If you are interested in buying this issue, write to Mr. Serge Ungeheuer, he can get it for you: uns@pt.lu

  • Piet van den Berg informed about a new version of meter cancel CANADA 5.1. You can see it clicking on "CANADA"

Piet van den Berg sent a scan of a cover with a cancel from the Italian Volleyball Federation. Do you think we should list it as a cachet cancel ? My opinion is that it is a specific cancel from a sport federation and it has very little to do with philately (but that might be the case with many other cachet cancels, too). Please let me know what you think ! Just click here:
