  • Thanks to Mauro Gilardi from Italy I could include a new postal stationery item from POLAND (007). All following numbers moved one up (007 becomes 008 etc).
  • And thanks to Mauro all the Polish postal stationery items as well as many more meter cancels can be shown in colour now.
  • Piet van den Berg from Holland sent in more information on the Postage Paid wrappers ("PP Postal stationery") from his country. Thanks Piet !

2002 01 23
  • According to information from MICHEL the issue from TANZANIA 007 - 010 is not an official issue from this country. That is why I moved these numbers to the "CINDERELLA" section of the stamp catalogue with the new numbers 001 - 004.
  • Mauro Gilardi informs about new meter cancels: one from GERMANY (1.4.4.1.) (see "1990-1999"), another one from GREAT BRITAIN 4.1.; the old numbers 4.1. and 4.2. become 4.2. and 4.3. respectively) (see "BEFORE 1990").
  • There were some slight corrections in the text for the following meter cancels: FRANCE 1.3.2., 1.3.4, ITALY 1.4.2.2., 1.5.2.2. (thank you, Mauro !!!).
  • The numbers of the following meter cancels from ITALY had to be changed: 1.3.2. becomes 2.4., 2.4. becomes 2.5. and 1.3.3. becomes 2.6.
  • Mauro informed me also about a new version of postal stationery POLAND 003b (the old numbers 003b and 003 c become 003c and 003d). I could also add colour images of some of the items.

2002 01 22
  • I added some stamps from INDONESIA to the NO - VOLLEYBALL - STAMPS section. They show a player that looks like a Volleyball player, but it is Badminton.
  • There is a new commemorative cancel from Yugoslavia (012). Go to NEWS "2001".

  • There is a nice mistake on the postal stationery card 009 from the CZECH REPUBLIC. Thanks to Piet van den Berg from Holland it was identified.
  • I could also add some translation (made by Vaclav Divis) for postal stationery and commemorative cancels from the CZECH REPUBLIC and CZECHOSLOVAKIA.

2002 01 20
  • My friend Mauro Gilardi sent me new information on postal stationery: I added POLAND 013, a new colour version of BULGARIA 002, a strange version of BULGARIA 010 with the indicium further right, a new version of ROMANIA 002 (different interior colour printing - new number 002b), another new version of 007 (on glossy paper - new number 007e). Mauro also helped identify some of the postal stationery items from Japan: T2 ?04 becomes T2 019, T2 ?01 becomes T2 020, T1 ?01 becomes T1 005, which causes some more number changes (T1 005 becomes T1 006 etc).
There is one new cachet cancel from Japan (004), and there are also two new commemorative cancels (177 and 240).
  • At this moment I would like to make a comment about the numbering system: I always have given new catalogue numbers to new items, no matter if they were really new (like, for example, from this year), or old (like the two cancels from Japan). This means that when an item like these cancels appear, all following items get new numbers, too. I will stick to this system for maybe another year, untill all items are online on this webpage and every serious collector could check his collection with the items listed here. After about a year from now I think that I should have got most of the information available in Volleyball Philately (which does not mean that there might not appear other items later), so that the catalogue numbers WILL NOT CHANGE ANY MORE. Should someone find an item not listed so far, it will get the same number as the item closest to it, with a capital letter after the number (e.g. 036 A).
If you would like to comment on this plan, please feel free to do so. Your comments are very much appreciated. Just click here:
