The Bernera Islands are situated in Scotland, Great
Britain, on the western coast of the Lewis island, outer Hebrides. They are no
official country. Their issues are Cinderella stamps which are sold mainly to
visiting tourists. On Great Bernera there live some 350 habitants and there is
an official post office, using British stamps.
The issues for the Olympic Games 1984 from Bernera, Dhufar, Eritrea, Grunay,
Oman and Staffa were produced by the Englishman Mr. Feigenbaum, who also was
responsible for various “local” issues. Because
of that various countries filed lawsuits against him.
