This cancel was only available by mail order from the Australian Philatelic Bureau in Melbourne as sets of prepared covers, and was produced by an external contractor. The contractor used machine cancels made from Australia Post's artwork. The ink density for the cancel is uniform, the size is 38 x 37 mm and the figures and numbers of the dates use serifs.

Two versions of this cancel were used from 2000 09 15 - 2000 09 28 at the OLYMPHILEX stamp exhibition, and from 2000 09 29 - 2000 10 01 at the GPO in Sydney. They were hand cancels and varied between 36 and 37 mm across the horizontal dimension. The date numbers and letters were 3 mm high and were sanserif. The two sets of cancels were almost identical. The main difference is a slight displacement of the numbers “2000“.

To find the difference in the two versions I took a transparency of one cancel and overlaid it on the second cancel. The resultant composite picture shows clearly the double image where the cancels differ (“2000”).

This cancel was provided at the Australian Philatelic Bureau in Melbourne to allow for canceling special orders. It was hand operated, and it is similar in size to the original mail units, except the date rollers were sanserif, they were 2 or 3 mm high and the spacing between the blocks of numbers and letters was different.
